Will weight training make women bulky?

  • Most women seen on TV and in magazines with substantial “bulky” muscle mass are enhanced through drugs and supplements
  • For women, toning and firming is what happens when the muscle is developed through training – This is what the Training Zone focuses on!
  • Bulking up requires a large increase in calories
  • Women do not have nearly as much testosterone as men to support natural “bulky” physiques

How is personal training advantageous over training alone at a large chain gym?

  • Keeps you motivated by keeping workouts exciting, setting goals, and tracking progress
  • Personal training clients much less likely to miss workouts or get off track in their exercise and diet program

  • Helps maximize results quickly and safely!

Can personal training get rid of my cellulite?

  • Cellulite is basically the buildup of pockets of fat that cause dimpling in the skin
  • Contrary to popular belief, research has shown that cellulite can be reduced by the reduction of body fat
  • By combining resistance training and cardiovascular exercise with a healthy diet, one will reduce the amount of fat cells in the body resulting in a noticeably firmer physique

How is The Training Zone different from other personal training studios in my area?

How much weight can I realistically expect to lose in a personal training program per week?

  • If fat loss is your goal, one should focus on body fat loss rather than simply overall weight loss
  • With a proper nutrition and an exercise program, one can expect to lose about 1-2 lbs per week of bodyfat
  • In addition to cardiovascular exercise, it is important to focus on weight training to build muscle which will increase metabolism and promote fat loss

Are carbohydrates bad for you?

  • For people trying to improve their health, it is most important to focus on overall calorie consumption rather than just carbohydrate intake
  • One should focus primarily on eating complex carbs, such as whole grains and starchy vegetables, while minimizing simple sugary carbs
  • The timing of eating carbs is very important- one should eat the majority of carbs in the morning and before and after one’s workout  
  • Eating the right carbs at the right times in moderation will boost energy levels and will not lead one to gain weight

Will eating fewer meals throughout the day help me lose weight?

  • Skipping meals is not conducive to weight loss
  • Eating several, small calorie meals throughout the day will help maintain and support a healthy and efficient metabolism
  • Several, small meals will help one avoid a famished hunger feeling and one is less likely to overindulge in an unhealthy, calorie dense meal, which is often stored as fat
  • Eating periodically throughout the day will help sustain energy levels and avoid feelings of bloating and fatigue after eating a calorie dense meal

I want to lose fat on my stomach and thighs – can I target fat loss for these problem areas?

  • No, you cannot target fat loss in any specific area of the body
  • Everybody is different, and the body tends to lose fat in a genetically determined way from all over the body
  • You can, however, target areas for muscle growth which will increase overall metabolism and help promote fat loss overall
